Heterotopia is the architecture of holiday. In ancient greece festive periods, so called hieromenia (hieres=holy), were an important act in the urban life with a large part of profane activities such as horse races, gymnastics and music-theatre contest.
Heterotopia therefore interferes with the continuity of space and the holiday, in the context of these festive periods, interrupts the continuity of time. The direct translation from time into space, from event into building was often a structural reaction to crisis creating a "holyday" space.
